After 17 years of practice as an academic child psychiatrist
and 35 years of clinical practice in general adult and child & adolescent
psychiatry I am pleased to be joining many of my former colleagues from Duke Medicine
in the community practice- Triangle Center for Behavioral
Health. While at Duke I closely worked with my colleagues in clinical trials
and NIH sponsored studies of children with anxiety and depressive disorders and
ADHD. We also worked as a cohesive clinical team treating many children and
families in a complimentary fashion with a combination of Pharmacotherapy and
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to bring the best evidence-based treatments to the
care of our patients. Often we also provided
consultation to families from out of state and on occasion from other
countries. In short we functioned as a center for excellence in pediatric
mental health care. Continuing in this tradition I will be focusing my clinical expertise in ADHD, anxiety and depression with a compassionate approach to the integrated assessment and treatment of adults, children and adolescents. In addition to my practice at Triangle Center for Behavioral Health I am also working with veterans at the Durham VA Hospital and continuing a research and teaching role at Duke as a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. I am also an American Red Cross Mental Health Volunteer and serve on state and national committees for Disaster Preparedness.
